Unable to change contact permissions for apps in iOS 18

I recently tried to grant an app access to my contacts but found the contacts page under privacy & security with a list of all my contacts up top and the option to toggle access for apps greyed out/locked. I’m unsure of how to get around this and if there’s a setting elsewhere I have set that’s messing with this. I have a 15 pro running iOS18.0, and my work phone (iPhone 11) still on iOS 17 doesn’t have this issue, which leads me to think it’s a iOS 18 bug. Any ideas?

I finally figured it out. I had to go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, then toggle to allow contacts (and photos apparently). Then after a hard phone restart, I was able to launch the app and grant access to contacts. Hope this helps someone else who was as lost as I was :)

Same here. Is there a valid response yet? I just downloaded a couple of clean up apps for contacts and it says "this application requires access to your contacts. Under your iPhone settings select Privacy > Contacts Change Switch to On for this app.

So I go to Privacy > Contacts and all I have are full access granted to four apps - all greyed out and no "change switch to on" there at all.

Looking for help here.

Delete the App and re-install it.
