Block all text messages from area code prefix

Why hasn’t Apple implemented a way to block all spam text messages from any specific area code prefix? The incoming spam texts is utter BS and for a company that brags intensively about privacy and security, there’s still no way nor app to block incoming TEXT MESSAGES from certain prefixes, only spam phone calls.

Why? Please spare me any useless “report to carrier” because they’re the same too. I use Verizon.

My service provider has a feature that blocks spam phone calls called Call Control. You should check with your service provider if they have it. Spam is another beast unto it's own and I have suggested to Apple that when you block a email that it creates a rule automatically and enters into Mail and it blocks it permanently. The problem is that spammer's are constantly changing the subject as often as the change the email address, so stopping spam is almost virtually impossible. There are third party apps that have had limited success at stopping it, Spam Sieve is one of them.

No one here can answer why Apple has or hasn’t done something, other than folks that work for Apple.

As for blocking area codes or blocking calling numbers, those numbers are routinely spoofed / faked / forged.

Beyond existing support muting unknown senders, and some third-party apps that claim to provide some filtering, Apple does not provide a means to block groups of senders, or groups of numbers.

If you would like a feature such as filtering text messages containing certain words or such, or would like to request some other features or enhancements be added, send that request to Apple directly: Product Feedback - Apple
