iPhone 16 Pro Max Screen Unresponsive

Is anyone else noticing their iPhone 16 pro max being unresponsive sometimes when touching the screen, typing, swiping.

Im not even using a screen protector and it’s like it. Makes things seem really laggy sometimes.

Did not expect it on a brand new iPhone.

I have noticed typing on the keyboard sometimes just doesn’t register letters or the space bar. I took it to Apple, ran diagnostic tests and there wasn’t anything wrong. It is extremely laggy and doesn’t pick up key entries. Pls fix!

This update improved the majority of the responsive issues. However if I now scroll up and down in apps or webpages near the edge of the screen, sometimes it doesn’t register.

Kinda crazy how bad this generation of iPhone is. Half the features aren’t coming for months, and basic features like touching the screen aren’t working 100% of the time.

The keyboard isn’t laggy for me anymore. And touching the screen now works fine. It’s just the scrolling close to the edge that’s an issue.

Yes, i have noticed it a lot around the edges. i’ve found myself having to repeatedly touch the little right corner x trying to exit out of something or when using “backspace” while typing. i upgraded from a 13 PM and never experienced this, and on the 16 PM i noticed it the first day. i’m going to wait a couple months for “new batches” to be made and if it doesn’t get better i’m hoping i can get a replacement. it’s THAT annoying.

Yes, I’ve done several forced restarts. It’s the third 16 PM. Clean install from the second one onward, just in case it was something transferring over. Taken it to the Genius Bar, everything I can personally think of. First one was diagnosed with intermittent kernel panics, second one failed touch screen diagnostics. Kernel panics, from what I understand, do not “get better” as time goes on and are extremely unlikely to be software related.

After iOS 18.0.1 did not fully fix the problem that I had with my laggy screen, I ended up making an appointment with a Genius at an Apple Store the day before yesterday, and they did a bunch of hardware diagnostics. My phone failed the Touch Screen Responsiveness Test, so they swapped out my iPhone 16 Pro Max with a new one. I immediately noticed the huge change in responsiveness with the new phone, and it has been absolutely perfect ever since. This has solved my problem completely, and I no longer have any issues with my iPhone whatsoever. It’s awesome now.

I’m having the same issue brand new just got the phone today. I have done all update I called Apple tech and spoke with them. They were no help.

when typing some of the letters are not registering. And some times scrolling seems like it’s laggy. And unresponsive.

even the talk to text part is really slow to respond. Sometimes .

apple.. yes I have closed all apps turned off Bluetooth Wi-Fi powered off device and back on same result. Even did a complete phone wipe. Followed by restore from the cloud. And same result what is going on. ?? We want answers.

I got my first Iphone today, 16 PM. But I can’t enjoy it due to unresponsiveness of the touchscreen. It is so annoying. I just updated to latest ios which is 18.1.1 but problem persists and it get worse at the edges. I can’t type “1” confidently. I literally can type so well on my old Xioami yet I can’t on my brand new maxed out Iphone. Is my phone faulty or software is broken?

We have iPhone 16 Pro Max and 16 Pro, neither of which have any touch issues with the screens. But clearly for some users, there are touch issues. After you updated to iOS 18.0.1 did you do a Forced Restart of your iPhone? This is something I do after EVERY iOS update. Try it and see if it helps you and keep this procedure in mind to do after an iOS update --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

Nothing changed for me, I’m continuing to still have weird screen responsiveness. Except now, I have Apple AI with the problems 😖

Most people aren't having touch issues, but I have no doubt that you are. Have you tried to adjust touch per the directions here --> Adjust how iPhone responds to your touch - Apple Support

To give an example of the annoying lag on the 16 pro max screen’s responsiveness, it took me 4 touches of the “sign in” button to get into this forum and near on 2 mins to write this text due to letters/space bar not responding.

Come on Apple… this is an expensive phone yet probably an easy fix for your tech guys!!

Apple isn't here. This is a user to user only forum, so they won't see your plea. For many many, touch issues were helped with iOS 18.2 and the current iOS is now 18.2.1. Have you updated your phone?

If yes and it's not better, schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and show the phone to them. Most people are NOT having touch issues, like me, on two iPhone's (16 Pro and 16 Pro Max), so fixing something which doesn't happen to everyone is tricky.
