Apple Music issues after iOS 18 Update

Has anyone experienced issues with Apple Music in iOS 18? For example, audio quality lowered despite Dolby Atmos and EQ off? Or trying to scroll through your playlist and the app crashes?

My phone updated yesterday, took an hour to complete, and issues with Music started immediately. I've no degradation in sound quality, but (1) it has crashed a few times, (2) scrolling through playlists is jerky and slow, (3) album thumbnails don't always appear, (4) when one song finishes playing the next starts ok but the display still shows the previous song playing and the currently playing song next in queue, (5) when I start playing from a different playlist it doesn't always start playing, it displays Loading then fails and displays Not Playing, or occasionally reverting to the last song playing from the previous playlist, (6) (not an issue, just an annoyance) if a favourite song appears at the bottom of the queue and I want to move it to the top, when I click and hold the song the options have moved round and Move to Top isn't in the usual place!

There are other issues not connected to Music, eg my Notes are now all saved on iCloud, it seems. Lucky I don't have any personal information in them. Same with my photos. A few (not all) apps are very slow to load. A small number of websites need me to remember my passwords because my phone has forgotten them. Like I can remember 16 character randomly generated passwords! And last, but by no means least, the battery appears to be draining faster than usual, same as happened after several previous iOS upgrades, some of which took several further fixes to correct fully.

Yes I have - it was a part of the "remedy" which didn't work, proposed by the Apple support operative I spoke to 2 days ago.

In fact, none of what she recommended I should do actually fixed the problem of half of my music having been 'de-downloaded' by installation of the first version of iOS 18.

I am now having to re-download all the missing music manually.

None of it ever left my library or playlists - just the downloads went missing.

The other weird thing is that when I re-download a tune, the Download option in the menu remains highlighted - in other words, it makes it seem like the re-download hasn't worked. Yet at the same time, the little grey circle with a white arrow is displayed alongside the track, which is normally a sign that it has downloaded.

Confusing, or what?!?

i recently had issues with the songs in my library kept repeating after every 4-5 songs. So I got on to apple and thought I got it sorted but no. Now repeats the same loop after 20 or so songs. 🙄

now the latest thing I’ve noticed is this. I was on a flight recently and put my phone on airplane mode. I set my self to play my music with my headphones and decided to play from a playlist within my library. It wouldn’t allow me to - said I need to be connected to WiFi or mobile data. So checked before flight took off. No problems playing on mobile data but as soon as I switched to airplane mode then I wouldn’t allow me to. So I played songs from my main library and I wouldn’t shuffle. It would allow me to skip but not shuffle.

i think the basic fact is apple wants everyone subscribed to Apple Music( which I’m not) and are pushing people in that direction by hook or by crook.
