Apple Music issues after iOS 18 Update

Has anyone experienced issues with Apple Music in iOS 18? For example, audio quality lowered despite Dolby Atmos and EQ off? Or trying to scroll through your playlist and the app crashes?

My phone updated yesterday, took an hour to complete, and issues with Music started immediately. I've no degradation in sound quality, but (1) it has crashed a few times, (2) scrolling through playlists is jerky and slow, (3) album thumbnails don't always appear, (4) when one song finishes playing the next starts ok but the display still shows the previous song playing and the currently playing song next in queue, (5) when I start playing from a different playlist it doesn't always start playing, it displays Loading then fails and displays Not Playing, or occasionally reverting to the last song playing from the previous playlist, (6) (not an issue, just an annoyance) if a favourite song appears at the bottom of the queue and I want to move it to the top, when I click and hold the song the options have moved round and Move to Top isn't in the usual place!

There are other issues not connected to Music, eg my Notes are now all saved on iCloud, it seems. Lucky I don't have any personal information in them. Same with my photos. A few (not all) apps are very slow to load. A small number of websites need me to remember my passwords because my phone has forgotten them. Like I can remember 16 character randomly generated passwords! And last, but by no means least, the battery appears to be draining faster than usual, same as happened after several previous iOS upgrades, some of which took several further fixes to correct fully.

If I play music and then go use another app or close my phone for sometime, my music will eventually stop playing and the app will crash when I go back to it. So far the only way I’ve figured out how to avoid this bug is to periodically go back to the app. However because it doesn’t always happen after the same amount of time or songs (afaik) I sometimes forget or take too long. This happens with carplay, bluetooth headphones, and my bluetooth speaker.

Did I mention the password problem? I thought it was a one off that my phone had forgotten some (but not all) of my passwords, but today it had forgotten a couple I had had to remind it about previously which it had remembered for a week or so, but it has now forgotten again. I’m not always at home near my laptop, where I can find them on Chrome, it’s starting to get annoying now 🤬

Running 18.1 and it's been happening since 18. Glad it's not only me. Apple Music plays for a few seconds then stops. Repeatedly. Sometimes it'll play fine, but other times, it's useless. I notice that it also happens when I have my AirPod Pro 2 in. Not sure if it's happening anyway, but it's getting to be not much fun listening to ANYTHING because of the constant freezing and interruptions.

Forgive me if you have already tried this.

You'll notice in itunes in the upper righthand corner there is the little magnifying glass and just to the left of it is a little down arrow and three horizontal lines.

Go over to the left side and under library highlight your albums. Then go back to the little down arrow in the upper righthand side and click down to the "Sort Options" and click on it. It will give you other options to sort your albums.

If it's not there for you, then it's another one of the inconsistent bugs that affects different users in different ways.

I may completely be misunderstanding you though.

Cheers!

So last night I deleted about six albums (there are far more, but I tried with six) that itunes had "done its work on", ie. screwed them up. I reburned those same albums to my iMac M1. Everything is good on the Mac.

However, they show up on my iphone with double the songs again, but this time the duplicated song is grayed out and gives me the message that "this song is not currently available in your country or region." With that being said, some albums through itunes match transferred over fine with no duplicates or grayed out songs, but some albums have the entire song listing grayed out with the same message about them not being available. Same with my ipad Pro.

This is all on 18.1.1. I just can't begin to express my frustration with this.

I'm not about to delete my entire library and try and reburn around 1000 albums only to "see if it works". As I've stated before, I'm going to seriously look for an audiophile music server/streamer that I can rip my CD's to; hopefully one that I can then transfer the songs over to my iphone and ipad and never look back to itunes again.

As others have said, Apple's silence is deafening.

I completely turned iTunes music sharing off on my iphone and iMac M1 and decided to sync manually the old fashioned way. I thought for sure that this would resolve the problem and at least sync everything up correctly, albeit in a less convenient way.

Nope, didn't happen. It's just as bad if not worse than before. I've done hard restarts of the phone and Mac, re-synced multiple times and it's different each time in the library on my phone, but totally messed up.

I would say around 30% - 40% of my music, if not more, is now unusable on my iphone and ipad.

I'm done.

Happy Holidays, Everybody

I am also having issues with my Apple Music on iOS 18.1.1. When I click on the … next to a song that I search and open up the menu, I am only given the option to “Add to a Playlist” and am no longer getting “Add to Device”

When I click on “Add to a Playlist” the menu just minimizes and the list of my playlists does not pop up.

This is super annoying and I really hope they come out with a fix soon!!

This just further shows the inconsistencies of the Apple bugs.

If I highlight a song under "Songs" from under the iTunes Library and do a two finger click on my mouse pad, I get the option to "Add to Device", amongst other options.

My iTunes library in my iMac seems to have corrected itself to some extent, but I still have many albums that are simply missing songs for no reason what-so-ever.

I still don't have any interest in using iTunes now even on the iMac due to the fact that it is still corrupted, pretty much. My iPhone and iPad are completely corrupted.
