A good year later, Apple fixed the issue with stickers not working in iMessage. And, it also repopulated with all the previous stickers that were missing. FINALLY!

the "Add sticker" option is there . The sticker "briefly" appears in the "stickers" but it quickly disappears and it's not saved. Heavy sigh ...
I can load stickers, but the special effects, like borders, are gone. 😕
How do you fix it? Mines not working
I never lost the add effects option! The effect just wouldn’t appear when I selected it, and the sticker was moved to a message.

I’m sorry that many of you still have an issue with the stickers not working. Mine finally began working again after the latest update. I thought they had fixed it properly but apparently not. 😕
i just updated w/ ios 18.1, hoping that will fix the sticer issue but to my disappointment, its the same...
I’m having the same issue. 16PM running 18.1. Stickers from my old phone didn’t transfer and when I try to add new stickers they show up and then instantly disappear.
Same thing with my 16PM once transferred all my stuff over stickers quit working.
Why is a ‘sticker’ function even mentioned if it doesn’t function. Perhaps it’s intended to antagonise people

Just tried this on my 16 Pro Max (18.1.1) and it did not work. Too bad, but I am glad it worked for you.
I had to do the factory reset as well. It was very scary but Apple guided me through it. It worked and it solve a lot of other issues I was having with my new phone.
