I cannot install IOS 18 on my M4 iPad Pro “Cannot Verify Update”
I am getting the message “Cannot verify update” when I try to install the update. I thought it was an issue with the servers being overwhelmed so I set it to install overnight. When I woke up and opened the iPad I received 6 of these messages in succession.
I have tried..
Deleting and then re-downloading the update 3 times
Disabling and then uninstalling my VPN
Toggling Airplane Mode
Doing a Network Reset
Connecting to a different Wifi access point
Connecting the iPad to my M3 MacBook Pro running macOS Sequoia and updating from Finder.
When I did this it backed up the iPad and downloaded the update but when it started the install the iPad is ejected and disappears from Finder without an error message.. I did this 3 times.
I then erased the iPad completely and restored from the backup and had the exact same results.
Just now when I tried updating again on the iPad I no longer get the option of updating to iOS 18. It says that the iPad is up to date with iPad 17.7.
I reconnected to my MacBook Pro and it started the backup/download and once again ejected the iPad before updating.
At this point I’m going to give up and wait for a fix. I assume the reason the update is no longer appearing as an option is that they are fixing bugs? Anyway, ill wait to see if anyone else is having this problem.
Thanks!
