connecting usb superdrive to studio, not working

I found the correct ports on the studio , and I am not using any hubs. It is the ONLY USB item on the Studio. Everything else is USB-C

Any help that could be offered will be a miracle.

Reading my printer software for Studio, as opposed to Epson's firmware updates that decided everyone should use iOS. Gack! USING ET-4850..

Help PLEEZ

Only Mounted Volumes can appear on the desktop, NEVER empty drives.

The next most common problem with this drive is shortage of USB power.

you can use  menu > about this Mac > (System Report) ...
