Is It safe to update my iPhone after a Hacking Alert?

I was redirected to a link a*******.com, then a message popped up: You're iphone has been hacked All your actions on this device are tracked by a hacker. Immediate action is required!

What actions do I need to take? I have a 15 Promax iOS 17.7. Is it safe to update to 18 which will require me to enter my passcode?
