My airport base station is not working with my new Mac. What am I doing wrong?

Okay, for transparency I am not IT savvy. I have a 2TB Airport base station that I bought when I began my Doctoral journey in 2011. It was working fine until I recently moved to FL and bought a new Mac. Now it does not work at all. What am I doing wrong?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 15.0

The Time Capsule connects to your modem using an Ethernet cable, so let's start by having you tell us what the make and model number of your modem might be. You might also be calling this device your router.

Once we know the make and model number of your modem / router, we can determine how to set up the Time Capsule again so that it will work with your modem / router.

Is your Time Capsule shaped like a "tower", about 8 inches tall, or does your Time Capsule appear "flat", like a small white pizza box with rounded corners?

If all of this sounds intimidating, hopefully you have a Best Buy store in your area. Contact the Geek Squad at Best Buy and they can come out and set up everything for you. This would be money well spent rather than you trying to mess with things on your own.
