Keynote remote control seems to not work on iOS 17.6.1

Following the Apple provided steps, when I am trying to connect a remote controller (in my case an iPhone 11 with iOS 17.6.1) on my iPad (also iOs 17.6.1) the phone will not appear as a remote controller. The Phone WILL remote control keynote on my Mac computer running 12.7.6. The iPad will NOT connect to be a remote controller of the Mac.

Is there some other setting needed on the iPad that will turn this much wanted feature on??

No option of allow remote control on Keynote on iPad I have followed all the instructions in the apple support article for enabling Keynote remote control between two devices and I am stuck and it is not working (Use Keynote Remote to control your Keynote presentation - Apple Support.) I'm trying to use my iPhone 13pro as a remote control for my iPad Air (5th gen.). Both are fully updated with iOS. The instructions say: "Tap the More button in the toolbar, tap Allow Remote Control, then turn on Enable Remotes." When I tap the more button there is no "allow remote control" option. I have previously been using older gen. iPhones and iPads together for this purpose for years and have never had a problem linking them before.

Keynote remote not working, iOS 15 and iPadOS 16 Hello need some help here. I cannot connect my ipad as remote control for keynote with the my iphone. ipad is connect thru iphone hotspot.
