No option of allow remote control on Keynote on iPad

  1. I have followed all the instructions in the apple support article for enabling Keynote remote control between two devices and I am stuck and it is not working (Use Keynote Remote to control your Keynote presentation - Apple Support.) I'm trying to use my iPhone 13pro as a remote control for my iPad Air (5th gen.). Both are fully updated with iOS. The instructions say: "Tap the More button  in the toolbar, tap Allow Remote Control, then turn on Enable Remotes." When I tap the more button there is no "allow remote control" option. I have previously been using older gen. iPhones and iPads together for this purpose for years and have never had a problem linking them before.

I am having the same issue with an iPhone. I have done this many times before with other phones. But I have an IPhoneSE on 16.4.1 with Keynote version 13.

I have checked and the Apple Support notes have not changed Use Keynote Remote to control your Keynote presentation – Apple Support (UK

But at step 3

”Tap the More button  in the toolbar, tap Allow Remote Control, then turn on Enable Remotes.”

The enable remotes option is no longer available!

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

I did reach out directly to Apple and have had no success. Support seems to be clueless on this one. I even took my devices in. For context, this happens on all of my iPads that are running iOS 16 and the problem persists with many different iPhones (I have access to multiple). I have an older iPad that cannot update to the iOS 16, and the I can control Keynote on that iPad using all of my iPhones. Every support person that I have talked to tries to use the instructions referenced above and is confused when the option does not appear on the iPad. If anyone has any idea on this I would appreciate the help.
