Will ios18 bring ability for child accounts to share AirTag locations
My son 11 has an apple id and is a member of my Family Sharing plan.
he has just started high school and needs to take his MedKit (with epipens) everyday. Thought it would be a good idea to add an AirTag in the bag and he would get notified on his phone if he leaves behind.
I am amazed that Apple does not allow him to share that location with me as he has a child account.
The ridiculousness is if I had set him up as an adult or he wasn’t in my family sharing plan he would be able to use it.
So basically any parent who actually cares about what their kids are doing on phones and try to protect them are punished by taking away features that would be very useful.
Very rare that I have anything to complain about with Apple.
Now I have another decision to make as I was going to add an AirTag to his bike but on my account, but realising I won’t be able to share that location with him now seems a bit pointless.
i know I’ll be able to log in on a Mac to his account and check his AirTag but really it should be much easier than that. Just a simple look at FindMy to make sure he has his med kit.
Also it would be useful for me and his Mum to know where it is if in case of emergency.
Wonder also if it could be added to MedicalID details, a button that would play a sound on a given AirTag device in case of emergency.
