24b or 32b
doing a VO direct into iM, does it record 24b or 32b float?
if 24b (or 16b as I suspect) can iM contend with a 32b float source done outside iM?

A voice-over records at 32 bits per sample, at least according to a test I did.
To test, I created a test project and imported a photo into it. I then recorded a voice-over from within the iMovie app. Then I exported the project to my desktop and opened it with VLC. In VLC's menu, I clicked on Window/Media Information/Codec Details. A window popped up as follows:
You can see that it shows 32 bits per sample.
