Can I still buy AAC files in the iTunes Store?

Sometimes I like to have a song to play along with in GarageBand, however, to import into a GB Track, the song must be in a specific file format like AAC (my CD rips in ALAC also work), you can’t use a download from Apple Music.

So I went to the iTunes Store and bought the song I wanted, but now find it’s not in AAC and still doesn’t work (Finder shows it as HLS media). Before I go to Amazon and buy an MP3, can I get a format that will work from the iTunes Store?

Thanks for your reply, I realized as I was posting that this wasn’t a GarageBand question, but didn’t see an easy way to put it in the iTunes area. I see the reference to “iTunes Plus” in the document, but not in the store. Though I’ve used iTunes and Apple Music for many years, I’ve never bought anything in the iTunes Store before, and can’t say I find it clear. With this new information I’ll post an updated question in the right section, in the mean time I bought an MP3 on Amazon that got my GB song going. Thanks again for your help!
