Studio M2 Max 2023 issues - keeps freezing and restarting.

I experience these problems from the start. I am so desperate. I have a new computer from over 3000 euro's and working on a Mac since 1997 and this is the first time I experience so many problems and can't find the solution and the helpdesk say they can't see anything when they run there standard test..... But look at this Etre Check Pro report, CPU crashes, Kernel Panics and AP Watchdog expired. I linked it as an additional text. Can anybody help me?

Thank you for following up with your results!

I have been making similar recommendations for a while, But I seldom get the important feedback that

"This a a pathway that WORKS!"

So sorry you had to endure such delays in the process of getting satisfaction.

You have a Hardware problem inside the system-on-a-Chip.

If you can get the user diagnostic to detect that, it will be easy to get the problem fixed. if you show up at the genius bar with no way to reproduce the problem, you WILL be sent away without a solution, because they are not trained to read panic reports.

if you contact Apple support, the First responders are also NOT trained to read your panic reports. You will need to work with them, and ask to have a specialist (who can read your panic reports) contact you. IF you ERASE your Mac before someone reads the stored panic reports, they will be LOST.

Apple agents can read what you have posted on these forums, if you tell them what discussion it is on. What they do NOT do is "Take our word for it" -- they have their own more rigorous procedures. What you hope to have happen is that Apple support DIRECTS a service center to replace your mainboard.

After major service, your files are NOT likely to be returned to you, so you need to have Recent Trusted backup of everything you want to still have AFTER service.

I will extract some important summary information form your etrecheck reportin the next post.

Apple diagnostics find GROSS failures. But in the limited time allowed, they seldom find subtle failures.

Now you have a harder job convincing Apple support your Mac has a hardware issue.

As I said above, if you present it at the Genius Bar, and can not make if fail on the spot, they will return it to you unmodified.

That is why I suggested you start talking to apple support today, and have them read your panic reports, which, [in my opinion] show a clear hardware failure.

Dear Grant, Thank you so much for your valuable information. I followed your advice (all the steps I had to take) and the Apple support people finally took it serious. Because they recognised the issue you found.

More then 6 weeks ago (!) they ordered a new motherboard for my Mac Studio. It had to come from China. But this order still did'nt arrive. Yesterday they finally ordered a new Mac Studio for me with similar specs I had. This new order is on its way to me now!

I didnt want to jinx it. So thats why it took so long for me to update you. Thank you so much! I am so relieved and looking forward to work on a functioning new machine. Have a great day. Kind regards, Anke

Does it crash if you disconnet th Wacom tablet?

On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Shut Down.

Wait for your Mac to shut down completely. A Mac is completely shut down when the screen is black and any lights (including in the Touch Bar) are off.

Press and hold the power button on your Mac until “Loading startup options” appears.

Select a volume.

Press and hold the Shift key, then click Continue in Safe Mode.

The computer restarts automatically. When the login window appears, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.

Does the problem occur in Safe Mode?

Sep 3, 2024 3:33 AM in response to BDAqua

Thank you for your reply. The crashes appear randomly. When I am using Safari. So simple internet usage. Or when I have an online teams-meeting. Or just when I am working in Indesign. I can't find a common theme.

I don't disconnect the Wacom because I use it all the time.

I haven't tried working in Safe Mode to see if it occurs then. Gonna try this out soon. Thank you

Sep 3, 2024 5:05 AM in response to BDAqua

Tried it. But I cannot re-create my normal work routine in Safe mode. The only thing I could do was surfing and mail. All of my fonts in use were disabled and couldn't activate them. So couldn't work properly in Indesign . (AAnd my Wacom driver didn't start. And I never work with a mouse... Need my pen. I have a deadline coming up so have to work.
