HomePods will not play music when set as default audio output for Apple TV 4K.

When I have my stereo pair of HomePods set as the default audio output for my Apple TV 4K, I am no longer able to ask Siri to play music on the HomePods. I get the response "Now playing ..." then a few seconds of nothing followed by "There was a problem playing music. Check that your TV is plugged in and on the same wifi as your homePod". Additionally, I have the issue where the Apple TV won't play music from the Apple Music app either. Everything is on the same network, everything is up to date, everything else works fine (audio from Apple TV to HomePods, airplay to HomePods, and any other Siri requests), it is only music that has the issue. When I have the default audio output set to the TV instead of the HomePods, then I don't have this issue. I have signed out and back in on the Apple TV and Home app, and restarted all devices, still doesn't fix it.

Any ideas?

They are both the Second Gen HomePod, and my Apple TV 4K is connected to the network via ethernet, but I still get the same problem when I unplug the ethernet and connect via wifi. Also, this same setup worked fine previously, but has now just recently stopped working. I have to assume it must be the result of an update, but I'm not sure.

Thanks.
