Why can't I change my son's region in Family Sharing?

This restriction is why pelin241 and I (and others) have ended up stranding a child in the wrong country.

For me, my actions will be to 1) remove my spouse from the family, 2) have her set the correct region (same as mine) and then we 3) move the kid over to my spouse, and then we 4) rejoin.

I too changed my own region, and managed to do so for my teenage child, but not my elementary-school-aged one. I get the message "Your country or region can’t be changed right now." when I am logged in to the appleid site.

I too read about this topic of having your child "leave the family" but I think it's a Catch-22, where the system doesn't allow kids to leave the family and be floating with no family organizer...

I will respond with a solution for pelin241 once I have solved this.

He may have to leave the family group first. If you're the Family Sharing Organizer you shouldn't have been able to change country either without having left the family.
