iOS 17.6.1 update draining battery

My iPhone 14 had this issue and I gave in and bought an iPhone 15. It is doing exactly the same. Fast battery drain and overheating.

Me too, with an iPhone SE 2nd gen. It actually dropped from 80% to 21% in spite of being plugged in to a charger all day. It got better in a few hours.

The consensus seems to be that it's all the house-keeping that it has to perform in the background, reorganizing files, stuff for Spotlight, etc. You don't see it happening so you think the battery is being used up for no reason at all.

I had very few files and apps at the time, so that's probably why it didn't take long.

I've read of some instances where it took several days to get back to normal.

I have literally gone through every single setting/app on the phone and reduced it to barely anything worth having. I have stripped my 14 down even further. My 14 started doing this in May after the IOS 17.5 update and it has not improved. I took it to Apple and they ran tests and said there was nothing wrong with the phone or battery. It is driving me crazy. I shouldnt have to carry a back up charger around for a brand new phone.
