Download a 12+ year app on child’s ipad

Hi!

My daughter (6yo) and I have played a few games like Samorost and games like that, that I have on my phone.

She will soon get her own iPad, but can’t seem to download them on her due to the age restriction. they are perfectly fine games that are fun and challenging and no in-app purchases etc.

is there a way around this, to temporarily make them available on her iPad?

Check the Screen Time setting at Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Content Restrictions > Apps. You may need to temporarily change this.


I assume you have already set up a Family Plan where many of these Parental Controls can be managed on your device, but below are some relevent articles for reference:

The reason for a 12+ rating is due to at least one of these conditions:

  • Infrequent or mild medical or treatment-focused content
  • Infrequent or mild references to alcohol, tobacco, or drug use
  • Infrequent or mild sexual content or nudity
  • Frequent or intense contests
  • Frequent or intense profanity or crude humor
  • Frequent or intense horror or fear themed content
  • Frequent or intense cartoon or fantasy violence
  • Infrequent or mild occurrences of realistic violence
  • Infrequent or mild simulated gambling
