Answered yes a pop up screen and the web site details displayed"bank blank" A file was down loaded to my computer with the file name loginAppContainer.do. What is this file ?

Either you got an invalid web link, or the popup was a scam. Be very, very cautious about clicking on any popup, particularly if you're not expecting it. Those are often pointers to phishing sites or malware. As kaz-k said, delete the file. It's not going to do you any good.
