How to fix Maps switching to dark mode on my iPhone?

I have my iPhone display setting to light, but when I open Maps it jumps to dark display. I don’t see any setting in maps to stop it. I’ve tried turning my phone off and back on and it still does the same and I think this only happened since the recent update.

Having the same issue on my iPhone SE (2020) on 17.5.1.

Seems to have coincided with the most recent update as you mentioned.

I noticed that it was being weird in CarPlay, and when I unplugged the other day from my car Maps was in dark mode. I will test to see if disconnecting while CarPlay has light mode maps fixes the issue.
