Software won't update on new iMac

I'm trying to update the software on my iMac from Sonoma 14.2.1 to Sonoma 14.6.1 but it won't accept my password. This is the same password I use to log in to the iMac a dozen times a day. Any suggestions on how I should proceed?

My iMac:

Apple M3 chip with 8‑core CPU with 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores,

10‑core GPU and 16‑core Neural Engine

1TB SSD storage, 24GB unified memory

iMac 24″, macOS 14.2

If you're having trouble updating your iMac from macOS Sonoma 14.2.1 to 14.6.1 due to password issues, first ensure that your password is correct and Caps Lock is off. Try restarting in Safe Mode by holding Shift during startup and attempt the update again, If the problem persists, you can reset your password by using the Apple ID recovery option or by booting into Recovery Mode (Command + R) and using the Terminal command `resetpassword`. If these steps don't resolve the issue, contacting Apple Support might be necessary.
