iPhone 13 Pro Max overheating after iOS 17.6.1 update

Hello, I have recently updated to iOS 17.6.1 on my iPhone 13 Pro Max and it's been overheating for no reason. I'll use it as I usually do, browsing or using social media, nothing intensive. The phone overheats near the camera module, probably where the A15 is located. It becomes very hot to the touch, even though I'm doing nothing intensive. I doubt it to be because of an aging battery as my battery health is 100% and it's a genuine one.

I find this extremely disappointing as this should be a top of the line device. I'd expect iOS 17.6.1 to be a near-perfect operating system considering iOS 18 is on the verge of coming out. There is also no way to downgrade, as I had minimal issues on 17.6.0. The phone was purchased as certified refurbished from Apple less than a year ago. Not only is the heat an issue, but the battery is also draining a lot quicker as a result of updating.

Potential solutions such as restarting, disabling iCloud sync, turning off background app refresh, updating apps, waiting a couple days for the update to "index" have done absolutely nothing. The device doesn't overheat while charging and is not being used in hot environment.

I haven't changed anything on the device other than updating it and it's simply annoying that it now burns my hand everytime I even use it for 5 minutes. I've been an iPhone user for almost 10 years and I just can't believe problems as simple as this are still occuring. It seems that this may force me to update to iOS 18, which I wasn't planning on doing. Even then, I don't see the reason why I'd have to update to a newer version to have a problem fixed that wasn't even there before 17.6.1.

Any help or advice is much appreciated.

I also have the same issue. iPhone 13 Pro Max and iOS 17.6.1.

Bought the device on release day at apple.

I have never encountered this so bad in all the years I have the device. Battery life is at 87% after 3 years.

Especially while using Social Media it gets too warm below camera lenses and all the way to the volume buttons.

Once it got so hot, that even keyboard input was severely delayed (~1Sec).

I Tried: Turning off private relay, several restarts, forced restart, background activity deactivated…. Nothing helps. It still gets warm after a few minutes.

This has not happened before the iOS 17.6.1 update. Disappointing
