Does anyone know where I can find an iMovie version that is compatible with Monterey 12.7.6?

I have an older Mac from late 2015, that runs off of Monterey version 12.7.6.

I've been using iMovie for a long time, but over the weekend it has stopped working, and when starting up just gives me a loading wheel and in force quit it reads (not responding). I have videos on there that I still need to edit.

After talking with Apple support they informed me that since my operating system is older, iMovie is no longer compatible. I was using it last week just fine, but this week I can't use it anymore.

I went through the troubleshooting process with someone from apple support over the phone, and after going through the troubleshooting options the next step was to reach out to the community to see if anyone else has a solution to this issue.

I'm thinking I need to install an older version of iMovie that is compatible with my OS, but if this is the case I'm hoping someone on here would be able to assist in finding the most compatible version for Monterey version 12.7.6.

If there is another way to do this great, but the troubleshooting steps have all been followed so far from apple support.

I like using iMovie because the way its set up is fast and easy for what I need it for, and would prefer to not have to go to a competitor like DaVinci Resolve, so any help here would be appreciated.

Does anyone know where I can find an Imovie version that is compatible with Monterey 12.7.6. , and if this won't solve the problem please let me know.

Please only respond if you know a solution.

Thank You

Hi,

Assuming that you have, or have had, iMovie 10 on your computer you can obtain the highest version of iMovie that your operating system will run by using the following procedure:

To update/redownload iMovie 10, drag your iMovie 10 app from the Applications folder into the trash, but do not empty the trash. (You can skip that step if you had iMovie 10 on your computer before, but deleted it.) Sign in to the app store and open your purchases folder by clicking on your name at the bottom of the app store side bar.   You will see your purchases displayed, including iMovie 10. Redownload/update iMovie from there. If not

successful, drag your present iMovie app out of the trash (if you moved it there) and return it to the Applications folder.
