sonoma 14.6.1 photos search does not work

The search function in photos does not work, zero results

The library is on a T7 external disk, apfs formatted, spotlight indexing is enabled and works

In photos/settings is says : spotlight cannot search this library due to its location

It worked for years en after the last update to 14.6.1 it stopped.

Does somebody has a solution to get the photos search function to do its thing?

ps if i create a new library in the pictures folder then the search function just works
