How do I back up my old, expensive Time Capsule?

I have an old, expensive Time Capsule. Tonight I tried to set it up to back up overnight and can't seem to make it work. I understand that the Time Capsules have been discontinued by Apple. What now for a senior with limited computer expertise?

Sorry, I can't tell from your post whether or not you want to try to get the Time Capsule working, or whether you have given up on the Time Capsule and are now looking for alternate options.

If you want to try to get the Time Capsule working again, we can help on the details......of which there will be plenty.....so if you are confident in your ability to follow instructions......with some likely backtracking......let us know.

So that you are aware.....this won't be a quick fix.....and we will be asking a number of questions up front....before....we begin the process.

Worst case, it will probably take an hour or more to try to get things set up, only to find that the Time Capsule is defective and cannot be used any longer.

Best case, it will take an hour or more to get things working again.
