I movie not exporting to 1080p

I have an iPhone 13 and movies are exported to the computer at full 1080p but iMovie will only save them at 720. I tried deleting preferences to no effect. It wasn't doing this a month ago.

Hi,

When you say that iMovie will only save 1080p at 720, do you mean that when you try to export the project you do not get a 1080 export option?

Try creating a totally new project and inserting a known 1080p clip into the timeline as the very first clip that is inserted into the project. That will set the project resolution at 1080. Then try to export the project. In the export box that appears you should be given a 1080 export option. To check the project resolution, click on the Settings button located above and to the right of the timeline. The project resolution will be shown at the top of the settings box.

To cover the bases, put your original media vid on your desktop and open it in QuickTimePlayer. Then do a Window/Show Movie Inspector and confirm that the format resolution is in fact 1080p.
