Mac seems to be frozen and will not allow me to type in password or move cursor

Hi,

Try to force quite then startup in Recovery mode if possible.

Use macOS Recovery on an Intel-based Mac – Apple Support (AU)

If it not possible, you'd better take your MacBook to your local retail AppleStore, Genius Bar or Apple Authorized Service Provider to be examined your MacBook there.
