Can the newest Mac Pro be upgraded in the future

Ive been a MacBook Pro user for some years, but used iMacs prior to that. I’m considering going back to a non-laptop option and I’m looking at the Mac Pro. Is it true that they are upgradable after purchase?

If I were to purchase a Mac Pro with the M2 Ultra, could it be upgraded to the M4 ultra when/if that upgrade occurs in 2025?

The M2 Ultra Mac Pro has slots for installing PCIe cards, but it does not support

  • Upgrading the processor
  • Upgrading RAM
  • Installing PCIe graphics cards
  • Installing standard 2.5", 3.5", or M.2 drives (unless someone makes a PCIe card that supports those)

It's a very different animal from the 2019 Intel Mac Pro, whose focus was on supporting beefy graphics cards and supporting extremely large amounts of RAM (up to 1.5 TB).

Some have compared it to "a M.2 Mac Studio with PCIe slots."
