Apple TV app disappeared from my Sony Google TV

The app would not reload. It took me hours to resolve. I ended up going to the app in settings and uninstalling an upgrade. Then I went to the App section at the top of the screen and clicked on the Apple TV App. It gave me the option to install update. I did. I was then able to successfully download the app and log on through my computer.


That was about three or so days ago. It just happened again. I could not download the app. Had to uninstall update, go to apps at top of page and was able to download after I reinstalled the update.


I am not going to do this every time I want to watch the ding-dang thing. Only new thing is we got a new tv. The Apple TV app is on there, but we have never opened the app on that tv.


Anybody else experiencing this?

Same thing happened to me. It disappeared from my Sony TV and TCL (?) that’s on my patio. Both are smart TVs using Google play for apps. I was thinking maybe Google doesn’t want the Apple app on “their” TVs. When I try to install it doesn’t work on the Sony, outside TV doesn’t offer Apple TV as an app anymore. I’m thinking I might have to add an Apple TV box if I want to watch Apple+

That is not a factor. You can have the Apple TV app and use it on as many TVs as you like. The only limit is simultaneous streams across devices per subscriber account. If the use of an extra stream becomes an issue, then a message will tell you so.


Apple TV app disappeared from my Sony Google TV

The Apple TV app should stay on your TV. It should not disappear by itself after use/​after quitting the app, unless manually deleted. It should not have to be re-downloaded, other than perhaps for troubleshooting purposes. Please contact Sony Support on how apps can disappear on their smart TVs.


You should keep the latest version TV system software, and the latest version of each app. You should allow for automatic updates for both. There would be a TV setting for that. No uninstalling or downgrading is advised.
