I am facing this same issue. HomePod version is 17.6 and it’s still asking me to update. I can’t set any alarms from my home app on iPhone or iPad and I have to use Siri every time. This issue is annoying me for weeks and I hoped it would fix by itself

I had the same issue and turns out Apple pushed out 17.x.x and 18.x.x at the same time. If you updated your devices go back and double check they are on 18.0. The devices automatically update to the next version in this case version 17.x.x. You will need to update again to 18.x.x version. Once I did this everything started working again including Stereo Pairs.

Here’s what worked for my home. We have to family members. My wife is the owner and I’m a home admin. I had been receiving the Upgrade Home Architecture prompt where timers and alarms are listed in the home mini device, but the device was update to date with version 18.1.

However, I found that my wife’s home app had a prompt in the home app that my app didn’t to upgrade home architecture which opened a window to update. It spins wheel for over 10 minutes, so I ended up upgrading the iPad to 18.1 as well. Then when I went back to the home app, this time it did the update quickly. After configuring the timers and alarms zone is back on both of our home apps.

so make sure your the system owner. Maybe this will work for you too!
