Keynote mp4 video controllers during presentation mode?

I've inserted mp4 videos into my Keynote presentations without a problem (using the media button > choose > insert). However, because I'm a teacher, I'd like to have access to the player controllers (play/pause, scrubber, etc.) while I'm in presentation mode. Stopping during a lecture to access the player controls on the edit side panel is very inconvenient (and also not adequate because it lacks a scrubber to quickly find a spot in the video). What's strange is that I've noticed that sometimes I have a controller and sometimes I don't...perhaps that has something to do with file type? I just tried using both .mp4 and .mov files, and neither have controllers available during presentation. Is there a box to click/unclick or a setting for this? PowerPoint has these controllers built in for all file types, so I'm forced to use that if my lectures have local videos. I haven't tried storing them on a server and inserting them from there...maybe that would work?

Thank you!
