I cannot find the menu in iMovie to adjust the settings/preferences
You did not mention your phone!
As a result I assumed you were using iMovie on a Mac.

Thank you, but none of these items show up on my screen so I can’t find any of these including the main menu. I’ve looked and looked and looked. I’m not sure why there’s nothing. is there some version of iMovie that is different than what comes on my phone?
In the menubar at the top of the screen select iMovie>Settings.
FYI Settings are the same as Preferences.
