Why is my Apple Pencil Pro not connecting to my iPad?

I have the brand new iPad Air and bought the new Apple Pencil Pro. When I first got the Pencil Pro, it paired perfectly and worked with no issues. However, just the other day, it randomly stopped working in Procreate and wouldn't let me draw a line. Eventually, it completely stopped working. I've had it charging all day, and I "forgot this device" and tried to repair it. It just shows "Pencil Pro" fading in and out but never connects. I rebooted and reset the network connections, but still nothing! My dad is also having the same issues with his pen on his iPad Pro M4. Is there a bug with the software?

Same issue. Ipad pro M4 11 inch with Apple pencil pro. The pencil was not working when I started to write. It showed as “not connected” in bluetooth settings. Tried to connect but didn’t. Then I clicked “forget this device”. Now the apple pencil won’t even show in discoverable bluetooth devices list. There’s a “Apple pencil pro” label fading in and out in the top but never connects as mentioned.

Tried restarting, resetting the network connections, and everything I can think of. Pencil does not work still. I have a fair suspicion that the pencil is not charging at the moment.

As a matter of fact, I had the same issues as yours. I tried to pair my Apple Pencil with the New Ipad Air, and it won't charge and is no longer working. I tried to reboot the Ipad by switching on and off, turned off the wifi and also the bluetooth; change the position of the pencil for charging. Tried everything that I can think of or the answer recommended from the google search however none of that worked. I am unsure if there is the possibility of the updated OS software.

There was a post on google search that suggested the pencil might be spoiled but after reading your post, I doubt that's the problem.

Please if anyone in the community can help or provide us with a solution.

This is a bit different problem but might be related. I have a 2024 11 inch iPad Pro and Apple Pencil Pro.

the Apple Pencil Pro randomly cuts out and the iPad freezes. I thought it was a defective pencil. Then I looked at settings for the pencil and turned off all the squeeze and double tap etc settings. That seems to have fixed the problem.

also the iPad was getting extremely hot. Since I turned off those settings, no more overheating.

i think I was inadvertently squeezing the pencil and overworking both the pencil and the iPad.

The operating system should be smart enough to know that if I’m playing solitaire I don’t need a colour palette or whatever.

I have a similar issue;

the Pencil Pro was successfully paired and working with iPad Pro 11” M4, then I installed a different iCloud backup (from an up-to-date, iPad Pro 12.9” M1) on the M4 and now the Pencil Pro will not pair. There’s no entry for Pencil Pro in Bluetooth Settings and when the Pencil Pro is docked with the IPad Pro 11” M4, the rotating Pencil Pro animation pops on (and takes over) the screen for about fifteen-seconds and then nothing… the Pencil Pro does not work and there’s no entry in Bluetooth Settings.

I have tried resetting Network Settings (under General) and tried resetting the iPad via the key sequence.

Next I will try installing iPad OS 18 Beta 8 to see what happens (although I’m a little apprehensive about the possibility of rolling-back, should I find the beta quarrelsome.)

Please help!
