can't put adjacent pins in Guides (Maps)
OK, this is REALLY annoying. (IOS17.5.1 SE/2).
In the Maps app, you drop pins. You can save those pins by moving them to a Guide (dumb word - this is really a group or a folder). BUT if your pins are too close together (maybe less than 50 feet apart), Maps will REFUSE to add that second pin to the Guide.
OK, pretend we're out on the street marking manhole covers. I walk around, and whenever I'm standing on a manhole cover, I do "Mark My Location". That drops a pin right here. I move that pin into the "Manhole Covers" Guide. I walk over to the next manhole cover and try to do the same. I can drop a pin there, but if the manhole covers are too close together, IT WILL REFUSE TO PUT THAT PIN IN THE GUIDE WITH THE OTHER ONE
Now, truly, the accuracy of the positions may not be that good, but if the manhole covers are only ten feet apart, the positions will be DIFFERENT. I don't want my iPhone to decide for me that those two positions aren't far enough apart so that the positions are distinguishable. I just want to record the positions that it reads for each one.
If there are manhole covers 10 feet apart, I want to log a pin for each one in my "Manhole Covers" Guide. But Maps won't let me do it!
This is an example of Apple Maps being too smart for its own good.
First of all, can someone verify that this really happens?
Secondly, is there a workaround? This "feature" is making it so that if there are two manhole covers close together, I can only log one of them.
