App store missing from child's phone even though it's "allowed"

The app store will only show up on my son's phone if I disable all content restrictions, even if I select "allow" for installing apps. I have even added the app store as one of the apps he can access at all times, even in downtime, and yet it still won't show up.

settings>screen time>content and privacy restrictions> itunes and app store purchases> all allowed

I have restarted his phone and mine. Checked for software updates.

The ONLY time it will show on his phone is if all content and privacy restrictions are completely toggled off.

I can't even swipe down and search for it. It doesn't come up.

How can I fix this? This is very frustrating.

I solved this by removing my child from screen time. On the parents' phone, go into "Screen Time" > "Stop Managing child's Screen Time". The app store immediately reappeared and then I re-added their ipad to screen time.

Hi everyone - I am having this issue and am very frustrated. I just spent a LOT of money upgrading our apple products for the new school year. I am giving my middle school child more freedom but she still has screen time. The app store is doing exactly what everyone below described several weeks ago. One of the reasons i got her a new phone was due to the fact i thought the old one was malfunctioning. Apple this is an obvious problem. Can you please fix this bug? I have given her permission to install apps and yet still the App store is totally gone. I have rest everything. I have turned off screen time and reset it all (there went a large chunk of time). Nothing is working. Please help.

I have the same problem. Apple support suggested to factory reset and reinstall the os on the child’s phone. I didn’t do that because my child phone is using an eSIM and I didn’t want to deal with the carrier to get a new one. I might end up trying this in a few days when I have time/energy to deal with the carrier. But for now can work around by disabling content restrictions.

if anyone else having this problem is able to factory reset their child’s iPhone and report back if it solved the problem, that would be very helpful!

Same experience.

I want to manage App Store access on my childs devices, and sometimes I have to enable it to update apps. When I allow app store access through the management parental control feature, the app store appear just fine on the iPhone, but on the iPad the icon appear for 2 seconds before it is gone again. How come it work on one device, and not the other is mind buggin.

We use a dedicated Apple ID for my childs devices.

Very buggy experience, and far from the "It just works" that used to be the Apple trademark.

This is the exact same issue i am experiencing. One day we noticed that on the iPhone 11 Pro my son uses, screen time wasn't reporting properly. We set it up from scratch again and now this exact behavior happens. If i restrict content, the App Store appears for a moment just to disappear again.

Allowing installs and everything App Store related doesn't help at all.

I have to remove all content restrictions. If an app has got an update (like Brawl Stars right now) nothing happens...

Super annoying and i would have expected better from a company this big and tech savy.

App Store will only appear if I disable all Content Restrictions.
If I set Allow for Install App, the App Store appears for a 1-2 seconds and then disappears.

I have logged a case with Apple for them to investigate.

Will update the thread if I have an update.

Every time I completely “turn off” the button to manage my child’s screen time, it is reset to factory privacy settings when I turn it back on. I then have to REMEMBER each level of safety I had for that child. (This is incredibly frustrating as it should turn back on exactly what it had been set at, and if anything, Apple should ADD A BUTTON to reset the privacy settings…not make us re-enter every single thing.)
