What can be done if Apple Watch fails to connect to Matrix Treadmill at the gym?

Over last few years I have connected my Apple Watch to the Matrix Treadmill at the gym to record my walks, runs and display my heart rate.

After the WatchOS 10.5 this week, it no longer works. I tried several treadmills at the gym, and also a stationary bike. Holding my watch to the sensor only makes repeated beep sounds, but it never connects.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue, or have a solution?

We are all users here, and don't know if and when Apple releases an update for the Apple Watch, to correct this issue. Or if the manufactures of the gym equipment have to do that from their side.

There have been several users reporting this issue in this community, and this looks like a watchOS 10.5 issue.

You should also tell Apple directly about it by using the Feedback link, which is the only way to reach them.

My gym took 2 years to just update the software to enable it. Ridiculous.

I find this hard to believe. I have a ticket open with Apple. I would like to think the tier 2 support person would know this.

Just an FYI. After updating to Watch OS 10.6, both my wife and I can connect to the treadmills at Planet Fitness again.
