iPad 1 stuck in boot loop.

I have been collecting devices lately and someone gave me an iPad 1st gen. The iPad is stuck in a boot loop and I am able to boot in to recovery mode but once unplugged the screen goes black. When I try to connect the device to my MacBook the MacBook port does not deliver enough power and the screen back light just flashes. I am able to boot in to dfu mode and began a restore but once it gets to reinstalling the software I get an error. Does anyone have any ideas?

As described, the iPad battery has almost certainly reached the end of its usable life - and cannot provide sufficient power to boot/restart the iPad.

Assuming that the battery is original, it is perhaps surprising that the iPad shows any life whatsoever. Being released in January 2010, the battery will now be over 14 years old.

As the iPad has been obsolete for nearly a decade - and is unsupported - battery replacement will not be available. Third-party replacement is unlikely to be viable. Be aware that even if the iPad can be resurrected, there are no compatible Apps available for download - which for practical purposes renders the iPad useless.
