With millions of people using Safari, at any given time there will be people who have problems. And, sometimes those problems will occur around the time of an update. Most of the time, it's pure coincidence.
But if you're not interested in troubleshooting Safari, I'd recommend either Brave or Firefox. They will expose less of your personal information and they won't hog resources. Avoid Chrome.
