How to fix Multiple Charges for the Same App on App Store

I have had over 200 charges for the same app. The app has been paid, but it shows that it hasn’t. Anytime we try to use our cards it try’s the same charge several times. As of now we can’t use our cards or pay for any apps because it says we need to update our payment method even when using Apple pay card with money on it. It will not let us add money either. Apple has been contacted, but no fix or solutions yet. if anyone has had this happen any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I’m having this exact issue with my daughter’s device. It all started with a specific app. She purchased in app and didn’t get the in app items. She did get refunded. But ever since , every single time she tried to purchase anything or even download a free game, it tries to charge her card for this same in app purchase from a month ago! It’s happened so many times that now her payment method just fails.

If Apple has opened an investigation into the charges, you will need to wait and see what they conclude. If the charges were made from an in-app purchase, they will be able to determine the device, time, and also the confirmation by double clicking the side button. Many apps also have websites where they offer subscriptions to avoid Apple's payment processing and bypass the ability for Apple to be able to cancel the subscription. If this is the case then it will need to be resolved with the company where these purchases were made.

If your card has been compromised, then those disputes will need to be resolved with the bank of your credit card. It is not uncommon for physical cards to be compromised through skimmers installed at gas stations or other retail terminals. You will still see these charges in your wallet app even though they were not made from your phone. The bank is also able to determine if the charges originate from Apple Pay or through the use of the card numbers.

Sounds like you did not get a refund for all the items that were purchased. For any item that was not refunded, you will receive the pop up for the charge when you attempt to use the App Store for any reason. Review the email you received for the refund and compare those with your Purchase History.
