MacBook Pro M1 Max Thunderbolt 4 Port Speed Issue
Dear Apple Technical Support,
I hope this email finds you well. I am reaching out to inquire about a potential issue I've encountered with my MacBook Pro M1 Max regarding the Thunderbolt 4 ports' speed capabilities.
I recently acquired a Samsung T9 external SSD, which boasts a maximum speed of 20Gbps. To leverage its full potential, I connected it to my MacBook Pro M1 Max using both an Apple-branded Thunderbolt 4 cable and a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2x2 cable. However, despite these efforts, I have been unable to achieve the expected 20Gbps transfer speeds. Only 10Gb/s.
Upon further investigation, it seems that the MacBook Pro M1 Max is not fully utilizing the Thunderbolt 4 ports' capabilities, as the transfer speeds remain capped at around 10Gbps.
I would greatly appreciate your assistance in clarifying why the MacBook Pro M1 Max is not supporting the full 20Gbps speed on its Thunderbolt 4 ports, especially when paired with a compatible device like the Samsung T9 SSD. Is there any specific configuration or troubleshooting steps I should undertake to address this issue?
Additionally, if there are any known limitations or compatibility issues related to Thunderbolt 4 connectivity on the MacBook Pro M1 Max, I would appreciate any insights or recommendations you could provide.
Thank you very much for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response and resolution of this issue.
Best regards,
Miroslav Belančin
