I have a set of 2nd-generation AirPod pros and would really like the USB-C charging port on the case. I know that the airpods themselves have a different model number depending on if they came with the USB-C case or the lightning case. Im wondering if the 2nd-generation AirPod pros that came with a case with a lightning port will work in a case with USB-C charging or if I need to buy a whole new set.

No. Charging case exchanges are not available.

The engraving is part of the case, you cannot magically transfer it to a new case.
You might be able to get a new engraving when you purchase a new case or set of Airpods though.
