imessage text box disappeared on Macbook group chat

I'm in the exact same situation. The group chat on my iPhone is 100% fine. However, on my MBP there is no Reply box at all. When new messages are sent to the group chat, they show up fine on my MBP, I just have no way at all to Reply on my MBP as there is no way to type.

My friend has this exact same issue and linked me this thread. Here's how I fixed it for him:

The solution is simply to remove the person from the group chat and add him back.

If you are only 3 people in a group chat, add anybody first because you can't be less than 3 in a group chat, then remove the person with the issue, add him back then remove the 4th new person.

It works again!

This did not work. I have the same problem. I can see the texts in real time, but can not react, nor text. There is no emoji picker or app store icon, or even a rounded box. Here are the solutions I have tried:

Has anyone had any progress on this? This is really annoying because i don't have a phone right now. I'm forced to text from my apple watch when I need to communicate with this group chat.

We've tried signing in and out. It does not fix the issue for me.

No solution for me as of yet. I've tried a number of suggestions but it hasn't helped, such as starting a new group chat with the same individuals, signing out and back into iMessage on my MBP. Nothing has worked.

I was forced to create a new chat with all the same members. It was what I came here to avoid, but, in the end, doing that worked. It was a hassle, though, to get everyone on the same page. The problem arose when I signed in and out of imessage. I'm too scared to do that again.

Same. Started happening after updating to MacOS 14.6.1. I am on an M3 MacBook Air.

Same thing here. Second time happening in 6 months. Any solutions??

I’m in the exact same boat and my group threads are coming through split up now on my MBP. Phone and iPad is working just fine.
