Unable to turn off Shuffle on Apple Music using iPhone

I did not turn shuffle on that I know of, but it is on and I cannot turn it off. I see a shuffle button but it does not switch to normal when I tap it. I have tried google and read about similar problems, watched videos. My iphone does not seem to do the same thing as others - swiping the bar up just hides the music app - it does not uncover the 'real' shuffle control as described. When I think I've turned shuffle off it only seems to work for the current song while the other songs still shuffle. All I want to do is listen to my albums with the songs in the original order. Is there a global shuffle setting in the Settings menu? It is frustrating because trying to disable it shuffles the current song - so doing this with the volume all the way down.
