icloudhome.exe excessive cpu use on Win10

I'm using the new iCloud for Windows 15.0.215 on 64-bit Windows 10 Pro 22H2.

Whenever my laptop sleeps, the fan soon starts running, and the culprit appears to be iCloud.

App History shows it's a MASSIVE CPU hog:

And in Task Manager, no other app comes close:

As soon as you start using the laptop again, the fan quietens down and iCloud appears to be behaving itself.

Windows is fully up to date, and I've tried uninstall/reinstall of iCloud - any other bright ideas?!

Exactely the same issue here. When the PC gets out of sleep (in the graph at 21:39:15) the process goes back to using no CPU.

I'm seeing the same issue. Years ago, I would projects like SETI@Home, and this acts like it. As soon as I actively start using the computer, the CPU drops off. I see the same behavior in the App history tab in Task manager as well. I have had issues in the past with having iCloud for Windows when it came to the iCloud Drive feature. I end up turning that one off, but in this case, it looks like I would have to completely uninstall iCloud to avoid this.
