Mac displays BSOD after installing Windows 10 Bootcamp

I've tried installing Bootcamp through the Bootcamp Assistant multiple times.

The same outcome occurs every time:

  1. Partitioning goes smoothly
  2. Reboots into the Windows install fine to choose Windows OS type, home/pro etc (dark blue background)
  3. Install goes smoothly
  4. After the install it tries to reboot into the Windows setup and I get the BSOD with the same error code 0x0000081d (lighter blue with :( face)

My specs:

2020 iMac, Retina 5k, 27-inch

Processor: 3.6 GHz 10-Core Intel Core i9

Graphics: AMD Radeon Pro 5700XT 16 GB

Memory: 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4

macOS: Sonoma 14.4

Solutions I've tried:

  • Upgrading OS from Big Sur to Sonoma
  • Playing with Full and No Security settings in Startup Security Utility
  • Downloading new Windows ISO file
  • Unplugging all external devices (mouse and keyboard included)
  • Deleting monitor.sys driver from Bootcamp drive through MacOS
  • Trying any and every recovery and repair options available when I get BSOD on Windows
  • Using different partition sizes, upto 250gb

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!
