“No password provided” error on Mail in iOS

Hi, all. Mail has stopped working on my iPhone and iPad. My mail provider is Comcast; I know my password is good because I can use their webmail interface with the Keychained credentials on these devices with no problem.

The problem started occurring this past Wednesday, February 28.

I’ve tried deleting the account and setting it up anew multiple times on both devices. I’ve also tried changing my password with Comcast and then deleting/setting up the account AGAIN. I’ve shut down both devices and restarted them. And of course I’ve checked to make sure my system software is up to date — 17.3.1 on the iPad, and…whatever’s latest on my iPhone SE. (Don’t have it in hand to check the number, but the most recent update has run successfully.)

No good.

I've read through the forums and seen this problem crop up for people on other providers, but I haven’t seen a definitive solution.

Aaaand unfortunately, Comcast support hasn’t been helpful. Since my username and password are good, they’ve suggested I “talk to Apple.” So here I am, talking to Apple. (…Sort of.) Can anyone suggest a fix, please? Thanks.

I ran into this problem recently…I solved it this way: 1) went to Xfinity.com and reset my password…I used an Apple-generated strong password which I saved to my keychain. 2) Went into settings/passwords and copied the new xfinity password. 3. Went to settings/mail and edited the email Comcast.net email account…pasted the new xfinity password into the account password field. Saved and then email downloaded.
