2021 MBPro M1 chip Mbps

My 2021 MB Pro shows less than 600 mbps from a router that is sending over 800mbps. Wireless diagnostics says the computer is receiving over 800mbps, but a speed test only shows 500-600 mbps. Any ideas what's going on? Restarted everything numbers times and Xfinity support is absolutely zero help...big surprise huh? iPad tells me it's receiving 800+. I'm paying for 800 and would like to see that on my MacBook pro. Only change I've made recently is eliminated my TV service and now only have phone and internet thorough Xfinity. Prior to that was speed testing the MB Pro at over 800.

If a simple reboot of your Mac doesn’t fix things, see if the problem still happens in Safe mode. It can take much longer to safe boot so be patient.

How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Safe mode will often correct weird software behavior by forcing the OS to do disk repair, clear caches and other housekeeping and disables acceleration and third-party mods. When you're in safe boot, the machine won’t be at its best performance, especially with graphics, but that's expected.

Does the same thing happen while in Safe mode?

Exit safe mode by restarting your Mac normally and evaluate the issue again.

Leave that scare-ware turned off. Or better yet, un-install it completely.

By far the easiest way to cause poor performance, instability, overheating and crashing is to install ANY third-party speeder-uppers, Cleaners, Optimizers, or Virus scanners. or a VPN that you installed yourself. The main reason is that they are relentless in scanning your files, non-stop, looking for things virus-like patterns in Everything. When completed, they do it all again.

The idea that a third party, with no special knowledge of the inner workings of MacOS, can somehow find a simple way to protect your computer — that is not already being done by MacOS itself — suggests that the MacOS developers are somehow "holding out on you". That is absurd.

You should remove any and all (other than Apple built-in) virus scanners, speeder uppers, optimizers, cleaners, App deleters or VPN packages you installed yourself, or anything of that ilk.

Third-party file Sync-ers such as DropBox, BackBlaze, OneDrive, or GoogleDrive can ruin performance, but are not inherently dangerous.

Many thanks for the info, unfortunately it didn't affect the speed at all. Tried it twice to make certain. I had been running Norton 360 as well and even pulled that off to see if it might be in conflict with the xFi Advanced Security. I failed to mentioned that they swapped out my old modem (an ARRIS TG1682G) for the xFi modem. I can function with 500-600mbps , but there's a pebble in my shoe knowing it should be 800 and I'm paying Comcast for something they're not delivering...big surprise there! One other comment, I spent 45 minutes with 3 different offshore "tech support" types who all told me to unplug and restart both the computer and the modem. I guess that's the sum total of the knowledge base, and what prompted me to venture out to this community...
