Wifi Bandwidth

I'm having a strange experience with my internet speeds and it seems to be limited to iOS & TVOS device. I have a 2022 Macbook Pro (Monterey) I just tested at around 600Mbps whether I connect via ethernet or WIFI. When I run the same test on my iPad Mini or iPhone 14, I can barely eek out 1Mbps or less. I can't run an actual speed test, but most of the time lately my AppleTV Gen 4 connected to the same WIFI network also can't seem to access enough bandwidth to stream video either. I would just blame the WIFI/router if my Macbook weren't able to achieve 600Mbps on the same network 3 feet from the other devices. Is there anything I can look at that might make sense out of this? The iPhone is brand new - as in taken out of the box 2 days ago, so I don't think it's the hardware either. Thanks.

Hey adamfromtempe,

While the MacBook is something of an anomaly, this is almost certainly a router issue.

If you're getting such poor speeds, are the other devices close to the router as well? Do their speeds improve when you get closer to the router? A lot of routers now have dual bands to help with congestion and while it can make things faster, the 5Ghz band is considerably slower if you're outside of its effective range.

If that doesn't appear to be the case, we'd recommend power cycling all of your devices including the router, and also try forgetting the network and rejoining after that.

Let us know if that helps and we'll continue from there.

Cheers!
